{"id":770,"date":"2024-10-22T09:09:02","date_gmt":"2024-10-22T09:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/glennruscoe.physio\/newswebsite2\/2024\/10\/22\/kateryna-tymruk-skoropad-presents-on-strengthening-physical-therapy-education-in-wartime-at-enphe-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-10-22T09:09:02","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T09:09:02","slug":"kateryna-tymruk-skoropad-presents-on-strengthening-physical-therapy-education-in-wartime-at-enphe-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glennruscoe.physio\/newswebsite2\/2024\/10\/22\/kateryna-tymruk-skoropad-presents-on-strengthening-physical-therapy-education-in-wartime-at-enphe-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Kateryna Tymruk-Skoropad presents on strengthening physical therapy education in wartime at ENPHE 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>During the recent European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE) conference, Physiopedia\u2019s Kateryna Tymruk-Skoropad presented on strengthening physical therapy education in wartime, speaking about her experiences improving the quality of education for physical therapists in Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ENPHE.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENPHE<\/a><span> \u00a0<\/span><span>is an organisation that brings together European universities providing physical therapy education. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enphe.org\/en\/events\/enphe-conference-2024-physiotherapy-education-aiming-at-excellence-through-collaboration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The <span>ENPHE Conference 2024 \u2013<\/span> <span>Physiotherapy Education: Aiming at Excellence through Collaboration<\/span><\/a><span> took place on 12\u201314 September in Warsaw, Poland, <\/span><span>and this year\u2019s conference was hosted and organised by The Faculty of Rehabilitation of the J\u00f3zef Pi\u0142sudski University of Physical Education in Poland\u200b. This 3-day conference followed the theme \u201cPhysiotherapy Education: Aiming at Excellence through Collaboration\u201d and included\u00a0<\/span>keynote speakers, activities and workshops.<\/p>\n<p><span>Physiopedia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.physiospot.com\/2024\/03\/18\/top-contributor-march-2024-kateryna-tymruk-skoropad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kateryna Tymruk-Skoropad<\/a> was invited to speak at ENPHE 2024 on the topic of \u201cStrengthening physical therapy education in wartime \u2013 from challenges to national and global cooperation\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span>Kateryna works as a translator for <a href=\"https:\/\/members.physio-pedia.com\/my-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Physiopedia Plus<\/a> (Plus) and also at the Department of Physical Therapy at Lviv State University of Physical Culture, Lviv, Ukraine and as strategic advisor for rehabilitation education development of the War Trauma Rehabilitation initiative. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The profession of physical therapy in Ukraine has had several milestones in its development, including the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014 and its full-scale escalation in 2022. After 2022, the picture of physical therapy needs changed, with a significant increase in the demand for physical therapists in public hospitals. At the same time, gaps in the education system and physical therapists\u2019 education have become apparent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Kateryna\u2019s presentation highlighted the challenges, barriers and facilitators for physical therapy in Ukraine and the steps taken by the Ukrainian and international community to improve the quality of formal and non-formal education of physical therapists.
