Perfect for a quick listen and a refresher on why these studies still matter today.<\/p>\n<p>Our first episode goes back to 1958 with the BMJ-published trial \u201cPhysiotherapy for Bell\u2019s Palsy\u201d by Mosforth and Taverner.<\/p>\n<p>Why does a trial still matter? <\/p>\n<p>It was one of the first randomised controlled trials in physiotherapy.<br \/>\nIt evaluated physiotherapy for facial palsy with 1-year follow-up (even today\u2019s it\u2019s difficult to do long-term follow-up in this area).<br \/>\nIt found electrical stimulation is not recommended for facial palsy, raising questions about cost-effectiveness.
