PEDro’s World-Wide Journal Club on telerehabilitation consultations with a physiotherapist for chronic knee pain (PEAK) is now available

Welcome to the PEDro World-Wide Journal Club. The purpose of the PEDro World-Wide Journal Club is to encourage the global physiotherapy community to read trials, reviews and guidelines that have important implications for clinical practice. We hope that facilitating discussion of this research will help physiotherapists to implement the results into their clinical practice.

This PEDro World-Wide Journal Club is about telerehabilitation consultations with a physiotherapist for chronic knee pain (PEAK). We will be discussing the randomised controlled trial by Hinman et al (2024). This trial was added to PEDro’s Top 25 Trials last year in celebration of PEDro’s 25th anniversary.

We encourage physiotherapists to participate in a five-step process:

1. invite your colleagues to be involved

2. read the article Hinman, R., et al. (2024). “Telerehabilitation consultations with a physiotherapist for chronic knee pain versus in-person consultations in Australia: the PEAK non-inferiority randomised controlled trial.” Lancet; 403(10433):1267-1278.

3. watch the video summarising the PEAK trial.

4. watch the video of the panel discussing the PEAK trial.

5. meet with your colleagues to have your own discussion about ballistic resistance training on mobility compared to non-ballistic exercise rehabilitation in people with a traumatic brain injury.

If you are interested in being involved, please visit the PEDro website for more information.
